Why EXAMEN.me? An Introduction

by Brent on April 20, 2009

If you have been a Christian for 30 years or 30 days, chances are you have received the memo that says, “If you want to be a good Christian, you need to read your Bible and pray.” In my experience, most Christians desire to read their Bibles and pray, but often do not know what to do when they get in a quite place to practice these spiritual disciplines. When reading the Bible, they do not understand the Scriptures or know how to apply it to their lives. When praying, they do not know what to pray for and lose focus. Slowly and surely, the believer feels defeated and gives up.

Reading the Bible and praying is not just for the spiritually elite; it is vital for every believer. You do not need to understand Greek and the sequence of Paul’s missionary journeys for the Holy Spirit to speak through the Word.

We created EXAMEN.me to provide followers of Christ with a tool to help them focus during their personal worship times.  Each Scripture Examen is a simple-guided experience to help you reflect on the Scripture as the Holy Spirit speaks to you.  Prayer Examens offer guidance to help you stay focused in your prayer life. We also provide a journal for you to keep a history of what God is teaching and doing in your life.

Whether you use EXAMEN.me or not, make sure the Scripture and prayer are priorities in your life.  These disciplines are the bedrock of following and having the mind of Christ.

How to Choose Your Own Scripture

by Brent on March 23, 2009

Many of you have said you would like to be able to choose your own passage in the Scripture Examens. That is certainly something we are considering for future updates. But until then, here is a work around that you might find helpful.

While all of the Scripture Examens are pre-determined you can choose whatever passage you want in the Journal Examen. Here is what you need to do.

  1. Start An Examen.
  2. Choose the “Journal Examen.”
  3. Enter a Scripture reference in the “Scripture Search” field, (e.g. Genesis 1, John 3:16). When you are through viewing the scripture hit clear.  You can continue to look up as many Scripture references as you want in a single Journal Examen.

You will not have the guides that you do in the Scripture Examen, but but hopefully this will help you if you want to choose your own Scripture!

Something Great is Coming

by Brent on February 7, 2009

We are working hard to build a  web site (web app) that will let you interact with God by guiding you through Scripture and prayers while providing a journal to record your experiences.

I don’t want to give away to many details, but what we are working on could radically change how many interact with God on a  daily basis, at least that is the goal.

Stay tuned for more information.
